The CPP Preparation Course is designed to help participants prepare to take the CPP certification exam.

Course Content 

The CPP preparation course will examine and explore:
• Successful studying techniques for the CPP exam
• CPP learning resources – where to find them and how to use them
• CPP practice exam questions – what the question is really asking, and how to determine the correct answer     
• Review of selected CPP Study Guide chapters 

The program includes:

• One-day, instructor-led study course
• CPP course materials and workbook 
• Early access to the NPA Convention’s opening reception
• Preferred seating at the opening keynote event

Course Fees

The fee for the CPP preparation course is complimentary with a convention registration. Limited seats are available.


Continuing Education Credit: Attendance at the CPP preparation program provides four continuing education (CE) hours towards the CPP designation renewal. Learn more

Chapter 1: Types of Parking Operations
Parking Operations: Understanding Market Segments and Modes of Operation.

Parking Plays a supporting role to a wide variety of industries, and it is critical to the success of nearly any venture that relies on its patrons to arrive and depart via automobile. This webinar draws on content from chapter 1 of the Certified Parking Professional Study Guide. It examines the different market segments that make up the parking industry and the variety of parking operations that serve different types of customers.  

At the end of this class, attendees will be able to:
• Understand the different market segments in the parking industry.
• Name the two basic types of parking operations.
• Discuss the key elements of operating self-park (honor) facilities.
• Be able to describe the different ways to operate an attended self-park facility.
• Name the different types of valet parking.
• Describe attendant-assisted parking.
It will also include an opportunity for attendees to test their knowledge by answering some CPP practice exam questions.

This class is based on the content in the following chapter of the CPP Study Guide: Chapter 1, Types of Parking Operations.

Chapter 5: Equipment Technology

Technology is having a massive impact on all aspects of parking operations. This session will provide an overview of the different types of equipment and technologies found in a parking garage or lot.

This program draws on content from chapter 5 of the CPP Study Guide, Equipment Technology.  

At the conclusion of this session, attendees will be able to:

• Define the five categories of revenue control systems.
• Compare the different levels of revenue control systems and discuss when each level is appropriate.
• Identify revenue control equipment components.
• Understand the different types of signage systems commonly in use in parking facilities.
• Identify typical security equipment within a parking facility.
• Discuss typical cleaning and maintenance equipment within a parking facility.
The session will also include an opportunity for attendees to test their knowledge by answering some CPP practice exam questions.

Chapter 15: Sustainable Parking

CPP Study Guide Chapter 15: Sustainable Parking
Sustainable parking is not just good for the environment, it’s good for business.

This class will examine the steps that parking operators can take to manage their operations in an environmentally responsible manner.  It will review ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle in office environments; outline the components of greener parking operations; and demonstrate how to reduce pollution as surface cleaning and other maintenance operations are performed.
The class will also examine how parking operations can generate additional revenue by charging fees to "plug in" electric vehicles.

It will also include an opportunity for attendees to test their knowledge by answering some CPP practice exam questions.

This class is based on the content in chapters 15 of the CPP Study Guide: Sustainable Parking.

This interactive session will explore some of the questions in the CPP exam and give students an opportunity to answer these questions under exam conditions. In addition, it will provide students an opportunity to discuss some questions, as a group, and with the program faculty.
