The Certified Parking Professional Preparation Course is for those seeking to earn the NPA’s coveted CPP designation.

The program is facilitated by members of NPA’s Certification Advisory Board (CAB). The program is a blend of class-room instruction, facilitator-led discussions, practical exercises, and group work.

The CPP Preparation Course is designed to help participants prepare to take the CPP certification exam.

9:00 AM - Chapter 5: Equipment Technology >>

Monday, September 19 | 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM
Technology is having a massive impact on all aspects of parking operations. This session will provide an overview of the different types of equipment and technologies found in a parking garage or lot.

This program draws on content from chapter 5 of the CPP Study Guide, Equipment Technology.

At the conclusion of this session, attendees will be able to:

 

  • Define the five categories of revenue control systems.
  • Compare the different levels of revenue control systems and discuss when each level is appropriate.
  • Identify revenue control equipment components.
  • Understand the different types of signage systems commonly in use in parking facilities.
  • Identify typical security equipment within a parking facility.
  • Discuss typical cleaning and maintenance equipment within a parking facility.

The session will also include an opportunity for attendees to test their knowledge by answering some CPP practice exam questions.

1:30 PM - Chapter 12: Marketing & Community Relations

Monday, September 19 | 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM

For parking professionals charged with marketing their facilities, understanding the market in which the facility operates, the parking product being offered for sale, and the needs of the patrons in that market are all critical to success.

This program draws on content from Chapter 12 of the CPP Study Guide, Marketing & Community Relations.

At the conclusion of this session, attendees will be able to:

  • Understand how supply and demand affect marketing.
  • Discuss the merits of knowing the competition.
  • Identify generators and promote new business.
  • State methods to enhance proactive communications and relationships with landlords.
  • Describe methods that enhance community relations and serve to attract and maintain customers.
  • Understand how to recognize pricing factors and maximize revenues.

The session will also include an opportunity for attendees to test their knowledge by answering some CPP practice exam questions.

2:45 PM - Chapter 8: Maintenance >>

Parking facility maintenance is a wise asset management investment for facility owners. Managers must work to extend the life of a facility and improve its appearance to customers, all while containing costs.

To accomplish this, managers must create a regular plan for routine and capital improvements, including winterization, surface maintenance, drain and fixture inspections and more.

This program draws on content from Chapter 8 of the CPP Study Guide, Maintenance.

At the conclusion of this session, attendees will be able to:

  • Understand the importance of a condition assessment for a parking facility.
  • Describe a maintenance program for the many components found in a parking facility.
  • Learn how to inspect and maintain floors, expansion and construction joints, stair and elevator towers and structural steel elements and much more.
  • Describe the causes of concrete deterioration.

The session will also include an opportunity for attendees to test their knowledge by answering some CPP practice exam questions.

4:00 PM - CPP Practice Exam: So, How Ready Are You? >>

Monday, September 19 | 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM

This interactive session will explore some of the questions in the CPP exam and give students an opportunity to answer these questions under exam conditions. In addition, it will provide students an opportunity to discuss some questions, as a group, and with the program faculty.
